Thanks. And yes, I agree that the F 17-28 is underrated. Part of the problem is that it's rather a poor performer on APS-C — but after the film era and before the K-1, that's where it would mostly be used. On APS-C, it loses its ultra-wide angle view, demonstrates mediocre sharpness (it's not a very sharp lens and this is compounded on the smaller sensor), but still has loads of distortion. Maybe more than any of the film era lenses, the 17-28 really needs an FF sensor to shine.

Here's another Patrick's Point shot with the 17-28:
I’ll definitely use the 17-28 on my K-1 on my trip to AZ/UT IN March.

Beautiful Georgian Dublin

The absolutely beautiful wide, Mount Street Upper, just off Merrion Square with The Peppercanister Church (St Stephen's Church) at the end.

This is the last of my mini series of old pocket watches.

100mm Macro WR with a 3-light setup. Shot through a hole in a reflector to get specular highlights in the clockwork. Background shot in a second frame without the reflector. Pixelshifted.

Tethered with IT2 to Capture One, Processed with DCU5 and final edits with Affinity Photo.

The local jeweler who borrowed me the watch liked it and ordered a print and even a custom made frame to hang it in his workshop.
Really nice shot, some serious work in that, best shot in the 3 pages before and after this in my opinion!

Thanks for showing us the behind the scenes and sharing your secrets about the setup.
Just curious, did you try compositions where the watch slightly out of the center, or at an angle?

I was planning to do some long exposure photos of flowing water a couple of days ago. But while I was doing it this friendly little red fox came by and posed for a couple of photographs. This is a photo that was taken a few seconds after she caught a little mice, and came up to me to show it.

Pentax K1 + DFA 150-450mm
ISO 2000, 150mm, f4,5, 1/250s
Excellent capture and really nice sharpness/focus on the eyes!
How far away was this?

Great pattern shot. Like the monochromatic aspect too.

Playing around

Just received my K-1 and tried some old glass 35-70 f4, one light set up, this image was around 4 stops under-exposed (very dark) shot in DNG.. I am blown away by the amount of correction that can be done with these files, better than anything I have shot. I did do a little skin clean up as my granddaughter insisted

I went from one of this state's newest industries the day before (weed) to one of the oldest yesterday, mining.
This is a gold mine I was hired to help document to build investor interest. First we had to 4x4 drive and then snowshoe to the shaft entrance and then we went in about half a mile and I shot a lot of rock seams.
I also grabbed a couple I thought looked a little more interesting as an image than just rock. It was pretty nasty in there. Lots of standing water and mud. But pretty interesting too. This one was originally dug in the 1880s and had been dormant for quite a while before new investors came to try here again with more modern methods.

Amazing images and subject. We rarely get to see mining photos. Man made caves are cool to look at. Can't imagine working in one.

I've toured lead and coal mines. They are so different from each other. Lead was large and open while coal had very low ceilings requiring hunched over walking. Coal mine also had metal "chicken wire" on ceiling to protect against falling debris. If anyone gets a chance to tour a mine don't miss out.

Thanks for sharing,

Thanks! It was neat but I was happy to get back out to sunlight when we were done! Amazing the original miners did all this by hand and with little or no consideration for safety.
Just finished cleaning my gear. Probably got as dirty as it has ever been!
