Great capture. Lots of tension in this image. He sure has a menacing look.

Thanks! They were pretty relaxed around people. This is in Mlilwane wildlife sancturay in Swaziland, a beautiful area without dangerous game (apart from crocs and hippos, so don't go swimming) where you're allowed to walk on your own. All the animals there are fairly used to people, and the warthogs more than most. The sanctuary is small, about 4,500 hectares/10,000 acres, and is situated in Ezulwini Valley ("Valley of Heaven").

We got a relatively rare formation of polar stratospheric clouds here just after sunset. It occurs when high-altitude clouds of ice particles are lit from below. The formal description seems to be "Lenticular type II polar stratospheric cloud"

Pano of four vertical shots with the DFA100. Not looking too good with the white background of PF, though.

Awesome photo of spectacular clouds. I've never seen these clouds. What a photo!
Thankfully you were ready with the Pentax,

Thanks for the kind words. It's only the second time I can remember to have seen this phenomenon. Luckily I was working from home today. My wife called me and asked if I had seen the clouds - which I hadn't, so I picked up the camera and went to the attic window
