A few years ago one was killed by a car near where I live. It had an old tag on it and the driver took it to the local Department of Conservation office to report it. They had to go through paper records to find the tag. the computer records did not go back that far. The old gent was 38 years old. The oldest bald eagle ever documented in the wild. The next oldest on record was 28 years old.
