Your link to that photo seems to be broken.
That image is facebook timeline photo, not from the usual flickr.

Your doing well I can't remember if Ive had breakfast...

This is Fort Augustus (its original Gaelic name of Cille Chumein was for Saint Cummein, who built a church here) acquired its current name when a fort was built here after the 1715 Jacobite uprising.
Ahh yes.

I remember being there and we were driving a rental Ford Escort 1.3 liter, 4 speed manual (not a bad car) and attempting to talk to a Swedish tourist who was riding his BMW R90s motorcycle. My Swedish was worse than his English, but I think I got my point across that he had a wonderful sports motorcycle. The memories are starting to flood back....about the vehicles encountered on that trip, anyways. Selective memory maybe.

As far as memories go, well I generally can't remember what I ate the other day either.

You must have enjoyed that... four gears to play with and the steering wheel on the wrong side.

I did and I also liked the idea of the Escort's rear wheel drive.

This Escort was the first car I drove with radial tires...Michelin X as I recall. We didn't get this generation of Ford Escort in Canada and even though the one I was driving was a low spec, basic Escort...I was impressed with it's prowess in the corners and of course there are a lot of corners in Scotland and England on the back roads I prefer driving.

However on this trip, there was a reminder to not overdo it while I was pretending to be Jackie Stewart. Somewhere outside of Fort William we came across a large tow truck, winching out another tourist rental car out of a body of water, whose name escapes me. After that, I knew it was time to scale back on these unfamiliar roads and return to my Walter Mitty self.

Very nice work, thanks Ken. What I meant was that the image wasn’t showing for me on your PF post, as well as the link.
