With the final arrival of spring weather and a long socially isolated weekend at the cabin, I unroofed my small winterized watering hole created last year for a camera trap setup. I arranged the field of view to create a photogenic setting, gathering and piling enough rocks to make me sore the next day. Once I completed the set up and got the pump and small water cascade running, the usual birds, squirrels and chipmunks immediately arrived.
My goal last summer was to photograph a bobcat that I see around the property. I've previously posted my failure on that front, sharing my consolation pictures of deer, a skunk and "bob" the house cat that somehow found its way to the remote property. After a lot of fun but simultaneous frustration last year not getting my bobcat, I was looking forward to trying again this year. I've seen the bobcat and photographed it from a distance but I'm still hoping to get it up close at the watering hole.
On my second night of trapping this weekend, I was rewarded (Easter morning) with this visitor who, quite honestly, trumps the bobcat.
Camera set up is the K1, this time with the Irix 15 mm. I use a Sabre camera trigger and two remote Nikon flashes that are triggered with a Camtraptions trigger.
