When you use a TC you get a new optical design consisting of the design of the TC and the lenses. So if you ask about the image circle of this design it simply depends on parameters like build of the lens, focal length of the lens, used aperture and distance from subject.

If I remember right I can use the DA TC1.4x with my M1.7/50 on the K-1 in FF mode without much vignetting. The combo converts to a ~ M2.4/75. I'd say this combo shows an image circle that even covers FF. With the new DFA1.4/50 it may not because it is a completely different design.

Here are three additional macro images using K-1 in FF mode, DA TC1.4x and DFA100WR with a 49-62mm step-up ring and metal round hood. No pp crop and not any work on vignetting and only a little pp (usually I do more).

f/8

f/6.3

f/6.3

Judge by yourself - usable in FF mode or not. I'd say depending on the scenery it may or may not disturb - of course this is a bit about personal prefences.

When I use the DA TC1.4x with 450mm there's strong vignetting. I think I can remember that the image circle in FF mode becomes visible.

So there's no general answer. In some circumstances you can even work in FF mode, so image circle is much wider than what you need to cover the APS-C standard. In other circumstances only litte cropping is needed and in some you can stay in APS-C mode because shooting in FF mode and applying significant cropping doesn't give you much benefit.

Short version: you have to experiment using the DA TC1.4x with your lenses ... then you know ...
Thanks, that looks good with the 100mm macro. I was thinking about the DA 60-250 with the TC on the K1. It's a good lens but often too short.
