I admire your courage. My first new car (1974 AMC Hornet hatchback.) cost less that that.

As much as I have faith in the additional protection of Pentax weather sealing, I don't go out of my way to test it either... If I knew in advance that my style of photography was going to put me in those situations often, I think I would swing for one of those 3rd Party Accidental Damage and protection warranty's, heh heh.

Gaweidert - My older brother had a Hornet! Bright orange with B&W checkerboard bucket seats... 6Cyl, 3 on the tree. I can still remember the smell of his burning clutch as we tried to haul my eldest brothers boat out of the water on the trailer (we finally had to help it by pushing). LOL! Yes, cars were either cheaper back then or camera's have gotten expensive.

While waiting for the sky to clear so I could ge a shot of comet Neowise, I took several shots of the crescent moon and then stacked them in Photoshop to get this photo.

Mine was orange too. Upgraded cloths seats, three on the tree too. Mine had a positraction rear end and upgraded suspension too. It was a beast in the snow. Stable on ice too with the upgraded rear end. Very comfortable car with the upgraded seats. Without power steering it was several turns of the wheel to move the front tires. It was something like 11 rotations of the steering wheel from stop to stop. The alternator died every 15 thousand miles too. The field diodes would crap out.

It was all of $2,997 brand new. The cars main claim to fame was the barrel roll in the James Bond movie "The Man With the Golden Gun.". That trick was designed on a computer at a place called Calspan. They were just down the street from where my station was and the ramps were sitting on their back lot.

A few years ago you could have purchased the car used in the movie. An homage to all the orange Hornets out there.

After several years of ownership, I finally decided to try the astrotracer function. Taken in my back yard about an hour ago with a D-FA* 50 @ f1.4, 180 sec, ISO 400.
