Those are nice boots.
Those are a pair of Meindl Vakuum GTX which died on me 2 weeks ago after 6 years of abuse. Very sturdy boots, but heavy and not that comfortable.

Now I got a pair of Salomon Quest 4D 3 and I already love them. Comfortable out of the box and much lighter, but let's see how long they will last

Thank you. I really can't remember the way I focused for those pictures, usually with the DA15 I use several methods: manual focusing while zooming in with live view, contrast AF in live view on some distant object or some object one-third from the frame bottom or just setting it at hyperfocal. All seem to work, but I don't really pixelpeep that much.

I'm mostly a FF user now but my failure to figure out the DA15 is an itch I can't get rid of. I have some good shots but almost always the edges are smeared so much it's noticeable at web sizes. The fact that things occasionally fall into place but I can't reliably repeat it is annoying.

Do you shoot with SR on? I've heard some suggest that ibis can't handle wide angles resulting in smeared edges.

If I'm shooting handheld it's with the SR on. I think those shots were taken handheld, I don't think I had the tripod with me, so SR was on. Probably manual focus, lens set at hyperfocal. If I'm on a tripod I always use the 2s delay function, which does mirror lock-up and automatically disables SR.

Tess walks 8-10 kms a day and she rarely gets much more than a year out of hers. Mine last 3-4years (I do more like 2-4 km a day.) Tess still has a pair of Salomans but she's currently wearing HOKAs. She finds them more comfortable.

8-10 kms a day is a lot. Is she hiking? I live in a city so it takes me 3-4 hours at least to get to the nearest place where I can hike or climb or whatever. On average I would say I go once or twice per month, so my boots usually last longer (4-5 years).

Managed to be in a good spot for a nice sunset last night. Lots going on in multiple directions and distances made it a little frantic as I was moving around and changing lenses to get it all.
Also, it was cold! Overnight low was 25 but today it will be in the 70s again. Quite a swing!
