A telephoto can do landscapes, or in this case a seascape. With the cloudy/rainy conditions likely and the Photographers Ephemeris indicating the sun would rise over the end of the jetty for this sunrise, I knew where I had to be and what type of lens to fit. A lens that would allow me to get a variety of images of the jetty in the environment and whatever happened on the day. I expected that if anything was to happen it would require some gaps in the cloud around sunrise and that's what I was pleased to see occurred. Best viewed as a larger image in Flickr using the L/F11 options. K-1 and the HD D-FA 150-450 @ 150mm. The previous image posted on Flickr of this scene was @ 330mm.

Yes, all Frenchie. He΄s more sporty looking than most bulldogs though.

I love this scene which you have captured so well. I spent some time in Bavaria, and this image evokes a great deal of the quiet country atmosphere that I came to enjoy so much.

Great action photo. I like the way plane of focus takes in the heads of both animals, highlighting the animals more so than the roper.

Thanks, Ivan, there were frames of course both earlier and later where that wasn't true, so they were throwaways.

That's action photography.

I'd hate to shoot boxing, the light levels mean the aperture has to be wide open, and from almost any angle I'd have to choose which participant to focus on.

Thanks for your kind comment, Ivan! The small towns in southern Germany look so different from the towns in the northern part, where I live. My wife was born in the town where I took the picture. She is still not used to the flat open spaces in northern Germany.
Take care,
