I wouldn't be too worried about these corners in terms of coverage. The image circle of DA glass needs to cover APS-C + whatever is needed for the IBIS. Judging from composition adjustment, that's quite a lot.
So the right picture doesn't draw the circle around the APS-C crop, but rather the rectangle we can reach with comp. adjustment. That should give enough for the square.

Probably there will be some vignetting based on the lens hoods, as the lens is rotation symmetric but the hoods typically aren't. But then again, most can be taken off.

It's not in the spec-sheet. So maybe it didn't get to the end product.

Maybe in a firmware update. Real aps-c lenses do not cover the 1:1 crop of 24,1 megapixels. There would be some vignetting.

I am pleased to hear that the new K1 full frame offers a 1:1 crop mode.

I often shoot square format. I look forward to testing some of my APS-C crop lenses on the K1 in the 1:1 crop mode. I would not be surprised to find that some of the APS-C lenses that fail to adequately fill the entire full frame sensor will do a good job at covering the 1:1 crop area.

Of particular interest to me would be how the Sigma 18 - 35mm APS-C lens covers the 1:1 crop area. Time will tell....

Puuuuh. That would have been so stupid if it would have been true. Thanks! =)

I looked at the samples on DPr and they look very promising. Also will be great to go to a pixel density lower than the K-3, i.e, back to be sloppy as with the K-5
