Flat profile

There are new color profiles in K-1
Features6 | PENTAX K-1 | RICOH IMAGING
One of them is flat. So is that flat profile for RAW or for JPG?

Custom image modes are all for JPG.
RAW is RAW.

I don’t think so.
With current tendency in videography flat profiles for RAW video such as S-LOG are very popular. Why same concepts cannot be used in photography? I think Nikon has flat profile for raw photos already.

I don't think that RAW in videography means the same as RAW in photography, because you don't typically color-correct each frame individually. Also, that would be a LOT more information. I think even "raw" video doesn't reflect the true color-depth of the sensor, unlike in photography.

nothing does. In video you just put in color space shadows, mid-tones and highlights.

When shooting RAW the profile will be applied if opened in Pentax software. If opened in Adobes programs, i.e Lightroom or Camera RAW, it will not be applied.
Shooting jpg the profile will be put in action. Also when doing video.

You can also, if shooting RAW and using the Pentax software change profile after the fact.

I do.

RAW doesn't have any profiles, but the profile you set is used for the embedded preview JPG and used as a starting point in some RAW developers. But it is not baked into the RAW, wouldn't be RAW if it was.
The Flat Profile should be good for video (which are basically JPEG frames) and seems like Pentax's attempt at a nod to videographers that they are listening.
