Will K-1 SR handle 150-450 + 1.4xTC?

Hello All,
I posted a thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/172-pentax-k-3/315084-k-3-ii-shake-reduct...ctiveness.html hoping to find some solution for the problems I have encountered using this combination handheld on the K-3 II, and the best I have got thus far seems to imply that the K-3 II can't handle this FL.
Is there any possibility that the K-1 SR will be able to cope with the 150-450 + 1.4xTC?

Cheers,
Terry

Well, it's 5-axis now (compensating for roll) plus it's rated for an additional stop (up to 5), so I'd expect it to fare better.

Why not?
Let's just wait and see.
Some people here surely will have this gear to test it on when available.

Although if you are talking about the DA 1.4 x TC, I think I read that it is not FF compatible.

Oh ok. Because DPReview were reporting it as crop only (see: Worth the wait? A look inside the Pentax K-1: Digital Photography Review )

Not according to the latest 2016 Pentax lenses and accessories catalogue [PDF, 15MB], which explicitly flags it as an APS-C product ...

I think, however, that Ricoh may be too cautious about whether the DA 1.4 TC will produce good results on FF. In real life, it probably will do OK under most conditions and settings, I suspect.

The HD 1.4x will work for short focal lengths but sadly will darken the corners with longer lenses (~300mm and more) so that will request a small crop to be ok.

If you mean the K-3 SR handles the 150-450 +1.4xTC OK, then it must be better than my K-3 II, as have had a lot of difficulty getting sharp handheld shots with this combination.
I would really like to hear about your technique and settings as they may be the answer to my problems.

Cheers,
Terry

Sure, I simply brace my hand under the tripod mount on it, go to a kneeling position, and put my elbow on my knee. I breathe in, hold my breath, make sure all is steady, and go for it. I also use a higher shutter speed. here's one I got of the moon handheld.

OK, I use a similar technique when possible, but that doesn't always suit when bird shooting.
How high a shutter speed do you reckon you need? I can't see any exif attached to that moon shot.

Cheers,
Terry

It is on my other computer, but I was shooting around 1/400 or so for that and wide open. Normally when doing birds and such I will be up around 1/800-1/2000 depending on the light. I use TAv, set auto ISO to where it is between 100-3200 (sometimes 100-6400), and with this set up I leave it wide open.

OK, thanks for that info.
I haven't really had any sharp pics at speeds at speeds that low.
Not even at 1/1000, and hard to get above that without high ISO.
I also shoot TAv a lot of the time.
I guess that real answer is that you must be much steadier than I am.
I'll have to spend more time trying to come to grips with this.

Cheers,
Terry

I am using the 150-450mm with HD TC1.4x on K3 handheld, the results were very acceptable! The small butterfly was 1/125s and the dragonfly was 1/1000s. The two photos are straight from camera without any post-processing.
