Well, when I get one, I will get the battery grip with it. I am pretty well set with lenses. There are several Samyang lenses that interest me. I still prefer manual focus over autofocus when there is time to use it.

Dear Pentax . PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include an optical focusing aid on you next DSLR focus screen. 45 degree split screen surrounded by a micro prism circle would rock. You advertise the ability to use all the old glass, help us get the most out of it.

As to memory cards, my travel photography strategy is to copy all files onto my laptop every night and then make another copy onto an external USB drive from there. I mostly use 16 and 32 gigabyte cards but I do own a few 64 gigabyte cards too. I do have separate master folders for my K5, K5-IIs and K3. In my MX-1 use 8 gigabyte cards.

That doesn't sound good. Well, so far, LR has been manageable for me with K-3 files. Just a tiny bit slow. I recently upped the LR Camera Raw cache size from the default 20 GB to 100 GB and am hoping this new RAM will help. Haven't tried it out yet, just installed the RAM last night.
It's weird. I think LR's got buggy of late. All other software is instant, even stuff by Microsoft.

Moving a slider in lighroom on my 2008 iMac and watching my picture respond is like watching paint dry with K3 files.... so I reckon I'll have plenty of chill time with K-1 files.

Rather than slow, I would characterize that as deliberate.

I can make dinner, eat, put the dishes in the sink and mix a cocktail while PSE or LR import files.

Well I just got a 77 limited, but eventually I will be looking at one of the wide lenses, haven't decided which one yet. I'll be getting lenses first as I can always use them on my K3 until I get the K1. I also bought a cheap Helios 44-2 and waiting for that to come in from Ukraine. I've been playing with my ME Super more recently getting used to the different aspect ratio.

sure thing. i'll tag you whenever i get the camera and the bag. ill make a big thread for it

in the mean time, i've seen this bag in person and i was very impressed with how it was layed out.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/919637-REG/tamrac_428351_jazz_83_photo_ipad_backpack.html

its tiny. takes very little room. but can easily store the following:
a dslr body, a 70-200, a 50mm, an 85mm, an 18-135, a 100mm macro, and a 10-20 mm sigma lens. maybe with room for a 40mm pankcake too.and i can attach my mefoto roadtrip tripod on the side of it. i gotta test this out with the k-1 body as its slightly larger. if it fits, i most likely will either get this or the amazon bag. my idea is that i'll get this bag, and another small bag for other accessories like flashes, and other stuff. and dump all of that in a camping bag. whenever i'm traveling and i dont need to take my entire camping bag, i can just pull this bag out and have most of my accessories i need for traveling.

Sigh...too true. My late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM 200+GB SSD and 1 TB HD got wind of my K-1 order and promptly decided to go into a tailspin. So, in addition to memory cards and a flash, I have now shelled out for a late 2015 27" 5K iMac with 3 TB fusion drive. I found one refurbished on Apple.com. It came with 16GB RAM. I have ordered 2 additional 8GB memory sticks which will bring it up to 32GB. I figured it is about as future proof a computer as I can afford at this point. I already have one 2TB external drive for storage and one 1TB external drive for Time Machine back-ups. I have a nice set of primes and a couple of middle of the rode zoom lenses, so lenses are not a high priority. I will however buy the extended warranty.

I've been gearing up for the K-1 over the last couple of months.
I already had the FA Limiteds and FA*85, but have added:
Sigma 70-200
Sigma 150-500
Sigma 12-24
Pentax FA 20-35
3 x Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB

Already sold my DA 20-40, Sigma 8-16 already. Looking to sell on my DA 60-250 and possibly the 50-135 too.

Obviously not a married man. The correct answer is that there are no on-costs and significant financial benefits to upgrading to a FF.
At our household it went more like "Oh, the unicorn? Do I need to pitch in?".

On the actual subject of additional costs, I may want to buy yet another memory card and a battery.
