K-1 USA Shipping Date

While we are waiting on our preorders, let's take a preliminary look at the performance of limited FA lenses on K-1.
Bear in mind that these are just random shots, not review-level quality photos.

Cat shot: K-1 + FA 31mm LTD @ f/2.8, ISO 400

Not sure how you linked those in but it took over a minute to render here and I'm on fast cable connection. Anyone with slow connection is going to be waiting awhile for those to load.............

Feb 19 pre-ordered on Amazon and nothing yet.....no update from Amazon either. I wonder where they received their cameras from.

Just speculating here that perhaps Ricoh USA is holding back release date from everyone so as not to compete (unfairly?) with B&H and Adorama? Pure speculation -

I'd hate to think USA is the red-headed stepchild.

Isn't the Pentax webstore run by someone else? Or did they change that?

Anyway, it seems no one in US has any sense of when they will arrive. Having B&H and Adorama closed means no real source of information. Amazon I would not consider reliable as anyone there is just going to repeat whatever the computer says. And it's confused right now

I hope customs did not cause a hold up, that can get ugly.

Well, not everything goes wrong in the US, i just got a "we miss you..." e-mail asking me to confirm my adress in case i would like to recieve future informations from Ricoh Imaging there !

Maybe caus' i once browsed the online pentax store ?

Just got the same thing. Maybe refreshing the email list to comply with regulations. Or moving their list to a new provider?

It seems like bad timing in Ricoh's part. I'd think they'd be aware of the popularity of B&H and Adorama and equally aware of their religious practices. Why would you make your release date during the week the two largest camera stores are down?

My order says Free Expedited Shipping. I'm not obsessing about this. It will be here when it is here, and not before. I have an amazing event in late May, but the K-3 will be fine if I'm still in line.

Ricoh Japan should set the entire world coordinated release date based on two retailers in the USA? I think this time it is just our bad luck. I've had nothing but positive from both for years.
