That will be about right, the raw files from my 20MP K-S1 are around 20-23mb, so 40-45mb should be expected.

I've just checked 9 K-1 DNGs that I had downloaded. 418 MB in total, so on average about 47 MB.

It's most noticeable when you try to edit the DNG's in lightroom. When you zoom in to pixel peep, that 4 second lag now takes *much* longer (admittedly, I am using a slightly underpowered ultrabook, but still, hadn't expected the difference to be that great).

Dare i say it? Yeah why not!

I think the autofocus on the K-3 is better in extremely low light.

Anyhow, I'm uploading two zips of RAW's into here: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=134AB9579492627D!688&authkey=!AHkuPfFC...hint=folder%2c

The 'outdoors' one is just the FA31 outdoors (mainly ISO 100).
The 'highiso' ones are photos from the FA31 and FA77 of the pint I'm currently drinking, and ISO 2000 -> 300000 ish. NOTE: I have disabled in camera noise reduction.

outdoors is about 25% done, highiso is about 10% done. This may take a while (as in, I might need to drink another pint).

If anyone has any requests for anything they want me to shoot tomorrow, let me know. I've got the following lenses lined up: FA28, M40, DA40 ltd/XS, FA43, K50 f1.4, DFA100 (both non-WR, and WR), FA135, and DA*300

I also have the 8-16 sigma, 12-24 pentax, DA15, DA21, DA*50-135, K55 1.8, and a box of assorted FF manual lenses that I really need to get rid of.

Low ISO, and they'll be in the 40-45mb range. The higher the ISO, the bigger the file size. The biggest I've seen so far is a snitch under 60mb. Let's be honest though, I don't know about you, but I'm not planning on using ISO 300000 very often

330Mb uploaded, 620mb to go (I deleted a few, so I'm only uploading 20 shots).

Good thinking.

The ones I looked at were: 5 DNGs at ISO 100, and 1 each at ISOs 160, 800, 6400, 12800

The FA31 outdoor files should be there. Don't expect anything too amazing, they're just test shots. 280Mb remaining on the other upload

I might run out of phone battery before they finish though :/

yeah, they said earlier that they'd been so busy, they hadn't had time to update anything web related at all. I guess that means all the pre-orders have been dispatched!

I'm now on the pubs wifi. 100Mb to go on the second zip. It's going slower than before. I have another pint though.

The nerve! Hopefully that's just because of your beer goggles hahaha....

Already browsed through your 'outdoors' photos.. They look great! Now off to play with them in my editor.. TFS!

Ahhh, the upload failed. I'll try again when I return home.

Anyhow, as for high ISO, it's not bad at all. With ZERO noise reduction, for facebook quality shots, I'd happily use ISO 12,800 and still seem like a boss. I'd use ISO 20,000 if needed.

If I wanted to do something beyond a facebook shot, then I'd say my upper limit is ISO 8000, extending to 12800 if I really needed it.

I will stress, that's without any noise reduction at all. With the K-3 I'd say 1600 was my 'good' limit, '3200' if I needed it, and '6400' if it was just facebook high jinx.

Yeah, I'd say the ISO performance is basically inline with the linear scaling of pixel area. Whatever your upper limit on the K-3 is, multiply that by 2.25 and you'll be in the right ballpark for your upper limit on the K-1.
