From the Grain of Salt Department

Be aware he accidentally 'tested' the FA31 with a third-party hood he uses for APSc still attached, and now disclaims his initial shockingly unfavorable review of the FA31 on the K-1. He had declared the FA31/1.8 Limited was unsuitable for use on the K-1.

He seems favorably impressed with the K-1, including the LCD operation (but the translation is a challenge).

He retracted that and said it was his mistake. FA31 works great.

I got one of those Thai birds. Suffered it for near 15 years now.

Anyway, I can't get the page to translate.

Looks okay.

Been reading Nasim Mansurov's comments on the K-1. He seems very positive towards it.

Thanks very much for the link.

Ventzislav made an error in his lens assessment and very graciously acknowledged it.

Despite the very poor translation from Bulgarian into English his overall review of the K-1 was very, very encouraging. I found it most informative, and mercifully free from unnecessary technical baggage. It has converted me from only half-heartedly taking an interest in the K-1 into being much more serious a a potential buyer. I don't even have a digital SLR so I would be leap-frogging the smaller format straight into full-frame.

For anyone who has not visited Ventzislav's website I suggest that you do so. His portfolio, in my opinion, is truly outstanding.

Yeah, it helps. I've even got all the old Pentax gear out of storage. Forgot how well made and lovely to shoot this stuff is. Got a K-3 and grip on the desk, FA43 mounted, trying to remember how to use it (been shooting Sony for the past 18 months).

If the K-1 and D-FA 70-200/2.8 proves capable to shoot action in fair light then it's a goer.

Glad to see that he corrected his assumption.
After he accidentally tested the FA 31mm Ltd ... "with a third party hood": does it really matter?
Just trying to understand the relationship between the hood/lens and the K1 ??

The hood being for APS-C would be the main issue I think.
