You can get the MMDD format, it follows the format of the date.
Just set the time format YY / MM / DD, and then change the format of the file, it will pass in MMDD.
You can then return to the original setting of the date.
Thanks for helping.

I didn't realise, that I didn't change tehe Date format to universal yymmdd. (fault 1 ) corrected
I didn't know, that there are Sideeffects to the date format. (fault 2 ) corrected

Make the SD-cards selectable for the user - as it is possible in the display mode. In the record mode it is usefull when you can select the card to record to. And the trick to remove the card not to record to, isn't the genious.

Making every button customisable would be a good one, including the [Lock] button which I keep accidentally pressing every time I turn the camera to portrait without using the grip. I'd also swap the [Playback] button with the [Metering button], or the [Playback] button with the [Change AF point /Card slot switch] button, which is a bit too small and recessed.

On the 4-way controller I'd lose any of the JPEG related settings because only K. Rockwell shoots in JPEG.

Drive Mode would be very nice... or bracketing. Either one.
Agreed. Particularly bracketing.

Plus return the Dust Alert feature to the menu pls.

Get underexposure highlighting back?

One thing I didn't notice at first is that the K-1 is missing the underexposure highlighting in instant review and playback. On the K-5, we had an option called "Bright/Dark Area" instead of "Highlight Alert" on the K-1. Both over and under exposed areas would flash in red and yellow respectively when "Bright/Dark Area" was active. Looking at the online manuals, it appears that "Highlight Alert" had already replaced "Bright/Dark Area" on the K-3.

I wonder why they removed just the underexposure highlighting. Does anyone know? In any case, underexposure highlighting was a good feature that I used, and it would be nice to see it come back in a firmware update.

Some firmware suggestions re RAW format saving options for the K-1 ...
  • In some Nikons like the D810, there are options for saving RAW files in different bit depths - specifically 12/14 bit. 12 bit RAW can shrink files, boost the fps a bit, and boost the amount stored in the RAW buffer by ~20-50%.
12 bit RAW is used in some Pentaxes already (eg K-S2), so it would not be a radical change to see that feature offered in the K-1.
  • Additionally, some Nikons have the option to save RAW's (12 or 14 bit) with different compression options - either lossless-compressed; lossy compressed; or un-compressed RAW, which allows a range of file size and image quality options.
  • Both Nikon and Canon also offer options to save RAW files in various image dimensions - eg Large (ie maximum resolution), Medium or Small, which adds more useful options to reduce file sizes, boost buffer and fps, and reduce storage.
Pic related (below). Some of the RAW savings options available in two K-1 competitor Canikons.

I'd appreciate the option to configure the exterior lighting separately for when the camera is on and for when it's off.

For instance: I'd like the mount LED to light up when the camera is off, but I'd like just the secondary screen to light up when the camera is turned on. At the moment the mount light would turn on also when the camera is on.

1.3x crop mode, focus peaking in video recording and new video codec (H.264 or maybe even H.265, which, thanks to it very good compression, would enable 60fps 1080p or 4K recording) with in camera "Flat" colour profile would be nice addition/change Don't forget the improved stability for general performance too

Pentax does not currently count in bulb mode. *If* it's ever added in firmware, here's how I want it done with 3 settings: 1) Off (for maximum battery life); 2) Count on rear LCD; 3) Count on top LCD.

Add focus bracketing for AF capable lenses, the code would be very similar to the intervalometer, with some extensions.

Enabling write to a (unlocked) SD card, even if the other one is locked!

If one card is locked, the camera will not fire... I have been caught out a few times now and missed some great shots because I have inserted a locked a SD card, or more likely, I have accidentally locked it when inserting the card into the camera. My K-3 is the same. I'm not familiar with the reason behind this but wishful thinking has me hoping this may have a firmware fix, or even a workaround...
