How is the 150-500 on your K-1?
Freezing the K-1.
I have found a way to take one photo : I release a little bit the lens, turn the lens on MF and the K-1 on. Then I try to manual focus and just before shooting I lock the lens back...

Insulating the data pin on the mount might also work. No AF, but at least you would be able to use the lens.

My K-1 arrived this morning. It is with much relief that I can report that the following Sigma lenses works perfectly:
  • 17-35mm F2.8-4 EX DG - "3 44" (Generic Sigma)
  • 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM - "8 255" (Generic Sigma)
  • 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM II - "8 16"
  • 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM - "8 17"
    &
  • 35mm F1.4 DG HSM - "8 29"

Very good to hear!, since I have those two Sigma's.

Maybe the Oz Sigma's have newer firmware that the others we've heard about in this thread.?

Now I'm running out of excuses for delaying my K-1 order ...

No excuses now!

My 50-500 came locally from CR Kennedy but both the 35 ART and 70-200 from O/S.

Is there anyone with a Sigma 100-300/4 EX and a K-1 who can check compatibility?

I'd like to run out of excuses as well.

That is suprising. The hypothesis was that the "8 255" sent by the lens was the reason that made the K-1 freeze.
It appears to be more complicated, and therefore it is something else sent by the lens.

I hope that Pentax engineers will be able to fix the bug of having the K-1 freeze when receiving non-compliant data, but I am less optimistic now.

Sigma 24-70mm / 70mm macro

Hello,

we could test the two lenses today on another body and both worked smooth on this body.

However we remarked that I have a certain free gap on the mount of 1/10th mm and both lenses are not as tight on my mount as on the other.
Could someone who has a similarproblem test if the leses are also a liitle more loose and not completely tight.

I contacted Pentax Germany to ask how to proceed further as all other of my lenses ( +20 pcs.) work fine.

Best
Georg

I think the only 8 255 lenses with problems have all been 70-200 f/2.8 models. The problem may be the two things taken together as the body knows the focal length of the lens and this ID. The other 70-200 f/2.8 identifies differently.

Another "8 255" lens, though some identify as "8 7"

The plot thickens.

So can anyone explain what the reason for reusing the same number is? Are there just not enough numbers for the number of lenses?

Big mystery...Sigma has a history of doing this as does Tamron and Tokina. In some cases the lens id is the same as a Pentax lens at the same focal length. My Sigma 50/2.8 EX DG macro identifies as "3 41", the same code used by the Pentax-F 50/2.8 macro.
