3rd-party lens compatibility is included such problems too IMO

compatibility is rather deep conception
If you don't like it, I have no plan to write here anymore
I guess I misunderstood your intent. I re-read your posts here and think you are saying that, based on the thread title, it would be good share the existence of another thread where a physical incompatibility problem (newly announced by Sigma) is being discussed.

There is an outside chance that the two are related for at least some users and so it may be a good idea.

Shouldn't have been, theEight.

That's what the Di II means for a Tamron lens - APS-C.

Sigma's code is DC.
Thanks. Rest assured I will be paying more attention to those codes going forward.

Yep, it's fine. Didn't seem to smash into the body, either, even though it's on Sigma's list.

I have the original versions, pre-DG, both the 70-200/2.8 and 100-300/4 and the matching EX 1.4x and EX 2x tele-converters. All work well on the K-1. The auto-focus speed on the 70-200 was very surprising, (very, very fast). Auto-focus speed on the 100-300 was "normal".
Hallelujah! Had to go thru all the msgs to get this confirmation. The only SIgma 70-200/2.8 version & matching adapters that I have retained.Owned every subsequent version other than the OS & got rid of them. Thanks!

A final update.

About a week ago I've sent my 70-200/2.8 DG APO HSM II Macro to Sigma, expecting a reply with a cost estimate for repair (I had requested both firmware update and bayonet fix).

Today I've got the lens back. No cost estimate - they've done it for free. With a lens about six years old, out of any warranty and out of production.

And so I now have a working 70-200/2.8 for my K-1.

Great service. Thanks to Sigma!

Great to hear the problem could be fixed, thanks for sharing.

So much for the "risks" one accepts when "buying third-party equipment".

Is your username on Pentax forum somehow correlated with that price?

Anyway great news, thank you.

I contacted Sigma Benelux and asked them about this HSM II version's compatibility. If it's a firmware issue, which I think it is reading through these pages, they will update for free. Mine does not focus in live-view on the K-3 II. I haven't tried it on the K-1 and will not until the mount flange has been modified.

The mount flanges for modification are on order according to Sigma, and will arrive end of July. I guess I will be bringing my 70-200 there soon, their Benelux hq is about 20km from here. Great service for an old lens. I still have the FA* 80-200 to use in the mean time. Will be interesting to compare them once the Sigma is updated.

Picked up my Sigma 70-200 HSM-II today. New firmware and new mount flange. All free of charge. This on a lens I bought second-hand myself, wonderful service by Sigma.

Tried it out on my K-1 today, working great!

FWIW, recently my (out of warranty) Sigma 70-200 HSM II mount flange was also quickly and efficiently modified by the local Australian Sigma distributor.

The required parts now seem to be widely available for all the Sigma lenses that need to be turned into 'non-scratchers'.

My Sigma 70-200 HSM II came back from servicing at Sigma Europe after 6 weeks.
They updated my firmware what I asked them to do.
Lens ID is not numeric anymore (8 255 or 8 16) and it has full description: Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM II
They changed my mount what I asked them NOT to do.
All for free.
Because of that I have problem with autofocusing now.
Adjustment is on -10 and autofocus is not good enough.
At least it works now but it will need another servicing.
So it won't be free at the end.
I hate Sigma.

To clarify they swapped the mount due to the K-1 compatibility (scratching the camera) but you had asked they leave it alone? I would push hard for them to not charge then if you specified do not alter and they did anyway.
