What was your first lens on the K-1 and what did you photograph with it?

So a while ago, possibly back when the K-1 was still the "Full-frame without a name", there was a thread asking people what lens they would put on it to take that immortal IMGP0001.JPG (or .DNG, or .PEF).

Now that the thing is making its way into the hands of the masses, it seems only fair to ask what people actually did.

Come on, now; DON'T go back and look for that thread before you open your new baby and fire it up; go with your gut instinct and tell us what you actually put on the camera in that first glorious moment.

THEN go back and see if actuality matched intent.

Fortunately, a poor choice will not bring you the same grief it did this chap:

For the pre-production model, the first lens I tried was the 28-105mm.

Now as for the inaugural production shot, it'll be a tough choice. So many options!

I'm leaning toward the FA* 85mm, or maybe the A 15mm, just for fun. Or maybe I'll pick out a lens I've never shot with (that's what collectors do, right?) and see what it's capable of Or cheese out and stick the D FA* 70-200mm on there?

Sounds like I need more than one K-1...

Your FIRST lens on your FIRST production K-1. No cheating.

I've brought theK18, FA31, and FA77 with me, and I'm 30mins from the k-1, so it'll be one of those (probably the K18, just because I'm interested to see what it does on FF). The FA31 will probably be next....

My first will be my most used lens....the Bigma 50-500 HSM OS. I will know instantly if the K1 will be better than my K5IIs (before it was damaged) or if it will be worse, or indistinguishable.
I will be checking for AF accuracy and speed, noise at 3200+, and color authenticity. I will check the larger view and better brightness, and try to pixel shift a squirrel @ 500mm....if I can get one to volunteer?

Most likely my Sigma 500 f4.5 then my Sigma 100-300 f4.

The first Saturday after it arrives I'm heading out to some wildlife shooting. For the most part I already know what to expect in the controlled shooting of landscape scenes.

I need to find out how it reacts in the dynamic world of birds and critters.

The second Saturday I may head up to the Grand Canyon or Payson (Horton Creek) to test my landscape lenses, more than the camera itself. I need to find out how my Sigma 20-40 and 24-60 will behave with a FF FoV. It's be over 10 years since I've shot anything but aps-c. I may need to recalibrate my mind's eye.

Please, everyone who's telegraphing their intentions:

I used, in the following order: K18, FA77, FA31, DFA100 WR, DA*300, FA43.

The last 3 choices were better than the first 3, as it turns out.

Used my M50 f1.7 that came with my MX in 1979...

Shot at f5.6; viewfinder is very usable for manual focus with such a bright lens. Exposure is slightly over due to my incompetence. The detail is fairly impressive - the 37 year old glass still rocks.

Then DFA 28-105, just to confirm it works :-)

Third and fourth shots were with Sigma 105 f2.8 DG Macro; here is pixelshift in action

Now I'm off to work through the rest of my collection.

Hats off to Pentax/Ricoh - a truly awesome camera that happily exceeds expectations.
