K-1 Whats moving?

I noticed something is moving inside my K-1 when moved side to side. Is it the sensor housing? Can anyone else confirm this is normal / the same with yours?

Thanks

Sensor on its moving cradle, in body stabilisation!

That is one of the most commonly asked questions of every new Pentax owner since the K10d was released. So, yes, it's normal.

I think you have the honour of being the first to ask this about the K-1

Your profile indicates that you have a 645Z .
Doesn't the 645Z have this feature as well ?

No, it doesn't have in body stabilisation. The sensor was too large to make it feasible at the time it was designed.

That's a fairly dubious honour to get.

I have what my kids call "senior moments" which are similar to this.

Until you half press the sensor isn't stabilized and it will move around.

I don't think it should flop around when the camera is switched on unless you're shaking it with enough force to do so. The sensor shift plate is always active in order to hold it in place while powered up.
At least that's how it was with my K-7, K-01 and K-50.

If SR = On is enabled in Menu (or INFO Screen).

I think #8 is for you.
But it will make some sound even if camera is On. The SR is not constantly active. Anyway, don't rattle your camera just to provoke loud noises, so you don't accidentally damage it. You need to hold the shutter in half press for a little bit until the SR icon lights up, meaning that it is actively compensating for the current situation. But yes, the clunk sound, as it is has been called on these forums for years now, is more apparent when camera is turned off, as the SR is completely off.

Congrats on your new camera, have fun with it
