K-1 First Shot

The K-1 arrived via UPS today! I've been pondering on what to do for that first shot. It seemed fitting to use a bit of history, my Takumar 135mm f/3.5 made in 1957 - 1961.

Nice photo and it certainly says something about backward compatibility.

Thank You! Must say I've not been so enthused about a new toy in a long time. And so far no let down, the more I test the more I am impressed. Fits my hand like a glove for one thing, so much better than the k-3 it's not funny and I thought the k-3 was good.

Setting up menus stuff and testing lenses right now. Off to the coast tomorrow.

First shots, crop set to FF. Mix of new, old and APS-C just to see what they would do. really crappy weather here, and dark, so not heading outside yet.

I'm glad you are jazzed. I felt the same way when I got my K-3. Good luck out at the coast. Tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be nice, but not quite so nice on Sunday (better as you go south).

Ack, sorry @jatrax, didn't mean to hijack your post. Thought this was an "official" first K1 pics thread!

Looks official enough to me!! Have at it. But there is an official post your K-1 photos thread so maybe this one can be POST YOUR FIRST K-1 PICTURE HERE!!!!

Only the first one (or few) then post the real ones in the "Post your K-1 Pictures thread.

Thank you!

Usually the anticipation has built up enough that when you finally open the box and have a play at what you bought there is a certain amount of let down feeling. Because mostly things do not live up to our inflated expectations.

I am happy to say that after 3 hours with this thing I am more excited than I was before it arrived.

All I can say is it really is a "big boy" camera. Just awesome!

I know what you mean... That seems to be the case with many products these days!

Yeah, after maybe 10 - 15 minutes of playing around with the K-1 and 24-70 at a recent photography show, I felt very confident that Ricoh / Pentax had pulled a rabbit out of the hat. It's a peach

There will be at least a second K-1 coming to town shortly, though yours will have departed west. Looks to be an amazing time at the coast over the next couple days. Looking forward to seeing some sand and surf with the K-1.
