Love the DA*55 if FF mode!

FA*24 f2 - FA*85 f1.4 - DA*55 f1.4

The Star trio prime, the best in my eye!
How do the FA* primes shoot? I've considered jumping into them, but I feel like I might just be embracing a bit of LAD, since I already have tha FA31 and 77 ltd, and a 50/1.2.

Frankly, the 24mm is a gem, i love portraits with it. Stop down its glorious too, but that unique fast is so good to have. The 85mm is phenomenal and I get stunning shots as you would expect from this King of Pentax from the past. I prefer it to all my portrait lens for both usability (fast and quiet focus) and stunning IQ. The 55mm is another lens that is I believe a hidden gem for the k1. Shooting with both the 24 and the 85, I always felt my fa50 1.4 or 1.7 to be lacking when shot wide open. Still they are great lenses! But my curiosity and reviews got me in buying this 55.. I'm glad I did because the IQ is stunning wide open and I shoot a lot WO. I believe the da*55 being the 85mm king of Pentax, they made it stun'ing ... As I was looking for a balanced trio, adding rain withstanding capability lens the 55 is just too good to pass on.
Now I feel equally pleased when I review the shots from a day shooting with the above star trio. They are beautiful lenses in their own right, producing imho loveable IQ, I don't regret spending on a them a bit.
One day, Pentax will release the D-FA* trio, and because of that the price of the FA* star lenses and DA* star will fall down, but I don't care. They all have a feel and rendition to them that scream full frame, with color so vivid and deep, a painterly quality, "pentax aficionados" factor, shoot beautiful and stunning images right out of the box.

Oh and the FA*star being screw focus they will continue working for half a century.

I prefer to have the option for f1.4 than smaller aperture. I love shallow DOF. It comes with a price of weight.

The limited FAs are more suited to small film FF, they feel out of place on the k1, except the 31mm which is a lovely lens to be honest.

I like the pro feeling of the FA*24 and FA*85. When you put them on k1 which is no small camera you know they are made for each other! Same goes for DA*55 that feels so much better than the flimsy-ish FA50s!

I had to buy several FA*85 in order to find a good copy, I guess being old some have haze by now I believe badly stored in humid place. Luckily I found a mint 24mm the first time I bought one, and the DA*55 I bought it new because I can. Just a word of caution.
