Playing With Older AF Zoom Lenses... the store so no pics yet. First up was an older Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 and even with the screw drive the focus is very quick, accurate, and very quiet. Next was the older Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 and again the screw drive was very fast, accurate, and very quiet. Oh, and super sharp too! I was very surprised and pleased as how quiet the screw drive is on these two lens. I may be forced to spend some more money.

The only older zoom lenses that focus quieter are my A series zooms.

Then I tried the D FA 28-105 f/3.5-5.6 and it is a terrific lens. Instant focus. deathly quiet, and very sharp. It's going to be a great walk around lens.

Thanks for your impressions of the D FA 28-105. I've been surprised there hasn't been much comment on that lens on this forum so far. I'm anxious to hear what people think of it as I think it is likely my next lens purchase. I really want a walkaround zoom for the K-1, but I also need some longer zooms or primes and funds are a bit limited at the moment.
