I have,
F 70-210 : superb lens.

F 80-200 : extraordinary lens. The best I think but slow. It's a non issue with the sensitivity of the K1 IMHO.

Thanks for the great info, edo! Can you tell me more about these two and have you tested them on the K-1? Thank you.

Yeah they both are stellar. No wide angle so no fuzzy edges there. Just sharp wide open on both ends.

F 70-210 is solid metal, F 80-200 is half the weight but plastic. Choose your poison.

Wide open is sharp but fuzzy. Perfectly fine sharp 1 stop, and superb sharpness 2 stop down for both lens.

80-200 is really almost super sharp wide open, but it's slow.

Auto focus is quick and I had no missed shots which is amazing I think on both, no striking difference.

I was shocked about the 80-200, maybe I got lucky. Both are mint optics and looks like new.

I love the 80-200 maybe it's honeymoon.

Thanks, edo! Sound like both would be good options for me. I appreciate your input!

Samyang 14mm, used FA 35mm f2, used F 50mm f1.7, and DFA 100mm macro (great sale on this lens going on if you are in the US, I think).

edit: ah, I see you already decided to go towards zooms. well, just something to think about. Samyang 14mm is probably by far the cheapest way to get ultra wide FF

I wanna say that those are not prime like quality. But for consumer zooms, they are stellar.

Of course a prime will be tack sharp at 5.6. But the rendering of those lens, especially the 80-200 is incredible

Thanks. I have my lenses in my signature and I already have the Samyang/Rokinon 14. I agree, it's a fine bargain!

And now I'm $400 poorer.

The FA 50mm is good, as is the DA 50mm if you don't mind a hint of vignetting and softer corners.
I haven't tried my DA 50mm yet so this is good to hear.

Oh yeah, you have a really nice set up already! How about a Zeiss 35mm Flektogon? Its wide, allows "macro" closeups (not 1:1, but still good), 35mm, FF, and really affordable. Manual lens, though. I don't use mine enough. Nice to have at least one Zeiss lens, even if its East German

I see you live in Virginia. Does loco stand for Loudoun County by any chance? If so, I live nearby and I spend a lot of time at Loudoun County wineries. I'd be happy to meet up with you and let you try out a couple of lenses. I have an M 135, an F 35-70, an A 50 f2, and a Sigma 70-300 (not sure if this one is APS-C or 135 format) you could try.

Thanks! Would love to have one. I guess I already have the FA31 and feel like I have that range covered, so I never really considered that particular lens. But it might be worth looking at one day!

No, it's just a stupid nickname. Thanks for the offer. I'm actually in the boonies in central VA. Good to know there are Pentaxians not too far away, though!
