Tamron SP AF 70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD [IF] MACRO on K-1, anyone?

I'm trying to find the samples with Tamron. Did anyone tried that lens on K-1?
There is no way I can afford Pentax 70-200 any time soon. )))

I have it and its a great lens on both the K3 and K1. Seems to focus quieter and faster on the K1 though with less hunting. Put it this way - it will be the last lens I replace with genuine Pentax glass and I'd buy the 15-30mm (to replace my pentax 12-24mm F4) and the Pentax 150-450 to replace my Tokina 80-400 first. I really enjoy the Bokeh from it and it's very sharp. Quite honestly I consider it the best lens bargain I have ever purchased.

Here's one taken earlier today with it:

It's the only non Pentax lens I have...I highly recommend it for the K-1. It is super sharp. The only drawback is that it's noisy because of the screw drive. I had a Nikon version previously and optically it was great, but the focus was slow and it hunted a lot to lock focus. The Pentax version is noticeably faster focusing with no hunting like the Nikon version.

I have the Tamron and for the quality it delivers, it is a bargain. I cannot imagine the Pentax being any sharper. I have shot Canon and Nikon 70-200 class lenses and this Tamron is right up there in quality at almost 1/3 the price. I got mine about 6 months ago just in case Tamron decided to stop production on it.

It seems to focus faster with K1 and the focusing noise is not that big of a deal. It is a little soft at 2.8 (perhaps good for portraits) however, from f3.5 on it is tack sharp. It is a winner regardless of the price. But when you consider the price, it is my best bargain purchase ever.

I really prefer the colour rendition of the Tamron compared to the Sigma too.
This bodes well, after issues with my Sigma HSM II and my K-1 I've just ordered the Tamron.
Can't wait to try it out.

Can you post some landscapes on the K-1 at various focal lengths and apertures? Mine is great and maybe the most sharp lens I've got on the center but with the K-1 I found out that it suffers a lot towards the edges of the FF. That was not evident on the crop frame of the K-5IIs. But as other users have said this is just my copy of the lens, which is probably a bit decentered... Here is a cropped sample with the K-1:

I am just into buying a Tamron AF 70-200 2.8 and would also know more about the Tamron quality when used on K-1 with full frame mode on. My plan is to start using it on my K-3 but if I know myself correct the K-1 is just a matter of time before I own...

Thanks in advance for all feedback!!

I'll insert that now and then Tamron has hit upon excellent optical designs and offered them at very attractive prices. My ancient Tamy 400 f4 is a fine long telephoto. Works very well with a Pentax 2XL converter. The Tamron 90mm macro in every version going back to the Adaptall II has always been an excellent lens. The 500 f8 mirror, granted that no mirror lens is all that great, has been rated second only to the Zeiss 500 f8 Mirotar which is hands-down the best of such optics, and the Tamron is 1/4 to 1/5 the price. I purchased a Nikon d7100 specifically to get a 150~600 Tamron, and I've not been disappointed (see image below). Tamron lenses are almost always worth investigating.
V-A-V the Tamron 70~200 f2.8: No personal experience, but every test or comparison I've read has praised it, and noted it is a major bargain.

Not mine. As I mentioned earlier, it is soft at 2.8 but sharpens up a lot at f3.5 and beyond. This is true both on K3 and K1. I was worried that with full frame, it may not be as good as on APSc but a few quick shots on K1 put that worry to rest.

Not the greatest photo, but I figure it shows edge to edge... shot on the K-1

I'm very satisfied with the lens so far - it's sharp and I find the focus speed to be adequate for my needs (which includes photographing racing dogs going 30mph+)

I just purchased the Tamron 70-200mm and it arrived yesterday. I had an opportunity to take some pictures with it and my K-1 yesterday before we lost the light. The lens is tack sharp and doesn't require any focus fine tuning. I was shooting at ISO 800, 1600 and 3200 handheld and the photos were sharp and I was able to crop significantly without distracting noise appearing. The K-1 is an amazing camera and with the Tamron even more so. Unless one really needs the weather sealing of the Pentax version of this lens, there is no reason to pay more than the $769 this lens is selling for currently. Excellent image quality plus a 6 year USA warranty is an unbeatable combination.
