I'll put it this way: I already have a second one on order.

I agree, then again I never got the point of creating a "not buying x model" thread. At least I didn't think people cared if I was going to get a K-01 or a K3II. Let me know if you all wanted to know so I can start my "Pointless Pentax Blog"

I bought neither a K-m nor K-x.
I am thinking about not buying a KS-2 but haven't yet decided.
I've not bought nearly every Canon available.

Its true.. but everyone uses their gear differently. I find manual focus much more accurate and faster as well.

Right now the K-1 doesn't have prime FF 55mm 1.8 or 1.4. I can't find macro lens for the k-1. Maybe if Pentax comes out with the K-1 ii in the future then more lenses will be out.
I have been using the DA*55 a lot on my K-1. It goes alright.
The DFA50 and DFA100WR are made for full frame and work perfectly on the K-1. Even the DA35 limited macro covers the full frame at close focal distances (but not so well for general photography).

Sorry for the late response. There is a 50mm 1.8 that works? is it a designed FF or crop sensor.

The DA 50 1.8 that is designed for aps-c actually covers the FF image circle. Its not all that odd, if i'm correct its based off of the prior f/1.7 50mil lenses? Sorta like how the current 40mm limited lens covers the FF circle because its based off of the old M 40mm design

It is a full frame design. As is the 55 1.4 and the 120 dollar 35mm 2.4. And the two 40mm 2.8. And the 43mm 1.9. Not to mention the 50mm 1.4, the 35mm f2 and the 50mm 2.8 macro. And then there's the 3rd party options as well... And other focal lengths...
You don't think there's enough options In that range?

Sorry I found 50mm 1.4 that would work and that macro 100mm 2.8 will work for me as well. Does anyone here do any night club photography?

Pentax Normal SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Autofocus Lens 20817 B&H Photo
Pentax smc DA 50mm f/1.8 Lens 22177 B&H Photo Video

Pentax still makes FA 50mm F1.4, but 50mm F1.8 will be fine too and you can get it for 80 bucks used, or $100 new. And then there is 43mm F1.9 pancake that is optimized for color saturation, microcontrast and bokeh. This costs around $500 new and maybe $350 used.

I will have to pass for a while on the K1 because no one has one in stock in the U.S. that I can see. The A7R and manual focus will have to do for a while longer.

I don't think so...low post count, previous owner of Nikon D5200 and Canon 70D. Current owner of K-3. I believe he has been sampling the various brands and moving up at each step. Not knowing about available lenses could be an expensive mistake, but it is not our money, right?

For the OP (@Vallista), as mentioned above, drilling the offerings at B&H provides an accurate sampling of FF lenses available new in the U.S. There are a few others (e.g. FA 35/2) that are sold outside N. America. If those offerings are inadequate for your needs, a Nikon D810 or Canon 5D MkIII may provide similar performance, though at somewhat higher price points for both body and higher end lenses. A Sony A7RII or A7II may also work for you.

Nope...

The DA 50/1.8 is a crop sensor lens that covers the FF frame pretty well, though with mild vignette and obvious corner softness. Its design is similar to previous Pentax 50/1.7 lenses (Planar-derived, as with most Japanese fast 50s), but dissimilar in implementation. It would be nice if Pentax were to release a D FA 50/1.7, but those who seek may find a FA 50/1.7 or F 50/1.7, neither of which is current product, but both of which are highly sought after used.
