dfa 28-105 users

hi all
iam a prime fan but changing lenses is a pain regarding the dust and humidity in my area in summer . Iam looking for a good lens but my budjet is tight since purchasing k1 .
iam leaning to dfa 28-105 not 24-70 because of the money issue. is it good lens and can match well with k1 resolution.
thanks in advance!

The D FA 28-105mm is hard to beat for the price IMO- and optically it's a good deal better than budget film-era zooms. I've chosen it over the 24-70mm for my walkaround needs, because it's so much lighter.

I also grabbed the 15-30mm for wide-angle shots since the 28-105mm is a bit lacking in that regard.

I've baught it together with the K1 and I'm quite lucky about it's performance

Have a look here most of the photos are done by me, the majority are withe the 28-105, you can identify them by the _jm0 in the name

Given its price and weight advantages over the 24-70, I also ended up buying the 28-105 as my walk round lens, and am very pleased with my purchase. Fast focus, quiet, not too heavy, nice pics, and WR. I too am a prime user when conditions permit.

Even if I do end up getting the 24-70 down the track, I can still see the 28-105 being useful for travel and full days out when the combined weight of the K-1 and 24-70 would be too much for me and/or conditions prevent non-WR lenses.

I bought the 28-105 because I didn't have a WR lens for the K-1 and couldn't afford the other D FA lenses. It's a great walk around lens, relatively light weight, quiet fast focusing, and very sharp. It's a little slow at the long end at f/5.6 but faster than similar zooms at the wide end at f/3.5. Just my $0.02.

The speed doesn't bother me at all. What does get a bit annoying is the dark viewfinder, since the lens vignettes more than the 18-135mm on crop. But certainly something you can grow accustomed to, I think.

But the 18-135 is better than some believes and talking about it.

Very interesting is, that you can rarely get one second hand.

Does the DFA 28-105 focus as fast as DFA 24-70 or more like DA 18-135?

I'd say, subjectively, that the motor in the 28-105 is faster, but this is balanced out by the fact that 0.5 to 1.5 stops less light reaches the AF sensor. The latter may therefore perform a bit worse in low light (then again you'll probably be using a different lens in that situation).
