All zooms are compromises between quality and versatility. For the best quality I would have only primes. For the best versatility I would only have one superzoom. Actually I want both top quality in some situations and top versatility in others: One superzoom plus several primes. Having several shorter zooms to switch between doesn't suit my use. Its just my opinion based on my own use, but I think my choice deserves better understanding. Others that may have a shorter range of favorite focal lengths, would probably be better of with a shorter zoom range or several zoom ranges like for example 15-30 + 24-70 + 70-200 + 150-450.

I use an FA24-90mm as one of my walkabout lens and the other is the FA31mm F1.8 Limited. So far I am using the 3 princesses/amigos as my 3 main lenses. For tele, I use a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 APO EX DG.
