I love my sigma 120-400, but will it work on a k-1? Has anyone tried the combination120-400 and k-1?

I haven't seen any user reports about that lens. The APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM is certainly on the Sigma list of lenses that they will fix though, if need be.

I sent my 150-500 to Sigma last week and it's due to be delivered tomorrow. I'll shoot some pics of the mod when it arrives. Talking with my local dealer he said that Sigma is now making their new lenses with a more conical shape for Canikons as well.

Got my Sigma 70-200/2.8 OS HSM (last model) back the other day.... all working well.

Before photo is up in post no 3.

Now photo..... no gap now between metal lens base and camera mount...... the metal lens base plate was touching the K-1 previously..... causing the mark. Now, the metal lens plate doesn't touch the K-1...... however there still is contact between camera and the plastic outer ring of the lens. This seems minor....... I'll probably file a bevel on the lens collar to get some clearance.

Must now check if lens now needs different micro focus adjustment.

Does it look like a new base plate, or might they just have bevelled the old one?

New I reckon..... really it seems all good........one would probably never normally look at things so closely......focus offset seemed to still be +4 on the K-1

This guy was wondering what all the fuss is about?

Is there a way to tell if the lens has already been repaired? I purchased a Sigma 35mm Art via eBay (6th Ave) today and was wondering if I should send it in for the repair before using it. Am I going to have issues because 6th Ave isn't an authorized reseller?

Un-repaired Sigma lenses have a square edge on their metal base plates. As you can see in Noel's photograph, the new one has a significantly bevelled edge.
If it has the square edge (most likely) and you are shooting a K-1 (or plan to in the future), you should get it fixed.

Just try it on your K-1. My 35 f1.4 has no contact with the K-1 camera body at all - there's about 1.5mm clearance between lens and body.

The original Sigma bases had a small bevel, they weren't square. Looking at the above photo, the bevel is much more pronounced after modification.

Should be a new one; the base is made from brass which is nickel-plated (the silver metal covering the surface).

That nickel-plating rubs down with older lenses.

Had they just bevelled the old bayonet ring, they'd had to re-plate the nickel. Far too much effort, far too expensive.

So in all probability it's a new ring.

(I'm waiting for my 70-200 to be repaired and might post some before/after shots)

I sent off through CRK 3 Sigma lenses today, 105 F2.8 Macro, 70-200 F2.8 and the 150-500 DG Bigma. They said it is about 10 days turn around and no costs to me.

I haven't bought a K-1 yet, but plan to. I own a number of pre-HSM (EX and EX DG) Sigma lenses, and they all have aperture rings. I wrote to Sigma asking them if they either knew if they were compatible and if they had any plans to to offer a repair service for those lenses. Their response was, "As after service period for some models have been expired already, we haven't checked for those model." Does anyone have any experience with pre-HSM Sigma EX and EX DG lenses on the K-1?
