K1 Metz 58 AF-2

Has anyone tried a Metz 58 AF-2 with their K1? I put mine on last night and it wouldn't fire about half the time. I eventually figured it would work most of the time in A (Auto) mode. I updated the K1 firmware this morning but haven't tried the flash yet. I believe the Metz flash FW is up to date.

Thanks...

Are you letting it recharge between shots?

You may have to limit yourself to 1/180s if Metz haven't updated the flash to work at 1/200s. Please let me know if that's the issue as a number of others are wondering the same thing

I have this combo but haven't tried it yet. I'll report back when I have a chance to try it.

I believe someone figured out it had something to do with the reported focal lengths. I think its programmed to convert focal length from APS-C because pentax didn't have a FF when the flash came out.

If correct, the flash should work fine when using the APS-C crop mode.

bertwert the green light is on so I believe it should be charged. Adam, I will experiment with that. enoeske the flash has a setting (or two) dealing with the conversion. I think I set them correctly since using my K5iis, but I'll check the manual...

Yes, the new firmware (ver 5) available from a link in that thread works perfectly with the 58AF2

I have got a second hand K1, installed v1.55 firmware, and I have the Metz 58 af2 with v5.0 firmware, which I've bought new and used a lot with the K5IIs without issues
now the same flash doesn't really work with the K1, fires at full power, pics are just grossly overexposed...any ideas what went wrong?

I have the K1 and Metz 58 AF2 combo for few years now and it was working fine. But recently the output is not consistent with PTTL mode and It underexposed lot of shots. Tried flash compensation but still not happy with consistency. Plus the recharge time has increased even and I use only Eneloop pro batteries on them.

I have no problems with my 58 AF-2 on my K-1. Shots are always well exposed.
