Unless you are importing a JPG into C1 (Capture One), or pre-process the RAW file, you won't get the benefits of PS (Pixel Shift).

C1 is great in many ways, but it only processes one out of the four PS frames.

A couple of PS images from today, April 24.. We have spring flowers. I know it's hard to believe. They finally came up.

Hi,

I really enjoy this thread.

My question: I have installed the RT version 5.0 rt1-gtk3.
Here I develloped a pixelshift file. RAW tab > Sensor with Bayer Matrix > Demosaising

I can't find the Pixel shift option here.

Instead I used the Amaze option and compared the outcome with the same image using DCU.

In the RT was far more noise. Am I doing something wrong?

5.0 rt1-gtk3 was before Pixel Shift was included. Try the second one from this link

You can't download the main RT build, you need to download one of the .dev builds, as they support pixel shift. Once you use that you will have the option of pixel shift in the same menu where you found amaze.

Amaze will only develop a single frame of the four frame pixel shift. Noise will depend on the other settings you choose along with it. Pixel shift should give less noise due to the presence of four frames.

Pixel Shift with flash

Hi,

Thanks to this thread I managed to make a pixel shift picture with flash. I used the M with 5 sec / F13/ 100 iso. I held the trigger in my hand and manually triggered the flash. Every time the new picture (one of 4) appeared I triggered the flash. Really easy to do.
I used a Metz 48 in a softbox and a metz 24 with an embrella. I used the cactus triggerset 5 and 6II.

Wow. OK, so I'm not quite understanding precisely what you did. Could you please do a step by step? I'm quite interested.

I think he is saying that he set manual mode with an exposure time of 5 seconds, pixel shift, and whatever aperture and then manually triggered his soft box after each exposure. You can tell that each exposure is done because an image flashes on the back LCD after each one. Since you have 5 seconds with each exposure, there is plenty of time for a flash to recharge and to re-trigger it.

1) set the ISO and aperture that you want
2) set a very long shutter time (e.g., 5 seconds)
3) hit the shutter button

4) wait a tiny amount of time for the shutter to open for the next frame
5) trigger the flash manually
6) when an intermediate frame (#1 through 3) show on the LCD back panel go to step 4

7) DONE!

Notes:
A) ambient lighting needs to be low enough so that it doesn't overpower the scene during the long shutter time.
B) shutter time needs to be long enough (or flash power low enough) to have the flash fully recharged for each frame.
C) If you have trouble with the first frame having a different brightness than frames 2, 3, & 4, try triggering the flash about one shutter time BEFORE starting the series
D) avoid moving or touching the flash which would shift the shadows and cause artifacts.
