Thanks; I use DCU5 for pixel shift images, but I must try RT again for that. Motion correction is on by default and unswitchable in the K-3II.

If you are shooting Raw, it doesn't really matter in RT. You just get options to choose which of the four images to use as base image and whether to do automatic adjustment or custom adjustment. Auto works pretty well, although when shooting water, I will often use custom and then the "median" setting to blur the water some.

Nice image, but is there anything in that picture that doesn't move?

The sky? I ran the mask on it and about fifty percent of the image was pixel shifted and fifty percent wasn't. Not sure if it is worth it, but I hope the fact that it was pixel shifted didn't detract from your enjoyment of it.

Well done Mr. Rondec
and you didn't fall for the temptation to crank up the sunset colours which is now so popular with digital photography. Particularly overcooking the colour purple which makes one want to run for the hills.

We have a peach tree that went crazy this year. My wife has been canning all weekend -- canned peaches, preserves, jelly and pie filling. A couple of pixel shifted shots with the DFA 100 macro. (and there are still more peaches to pick).

Peaches.

Canning Results.

There has been several questions as to why Pixel Shift.
I use to help recover in the shadows. here is an example from last night
K1 F11 ISO 400 1/8sec

Irix lens 11mm
Processed in Capture One Single exposure

Unedited

Pulling more than 4 stops of exposure

and more help using curves and levels.

In response to sas8888's post dealing with recovering shadows.
Post 805 above

There is a lesson in this.
Modern digital cameras are getting better at this but are still a fair way off to what the human eye is capable of, namely “dynamic range”. While today's DSLRs still struggle to
accurately record details in very bright parts of an image they are already pretty good doing this in dark or deep shadows.

If an image is recorded in RAW format with the lowest possible ISO, details in dark shadows will surprise many people how well they can be recovered. Don't be tempted to erase a photo just taken of a high dynamic range scene which looks much too dark on the camera's LCD screen. In PP, and it is the only way you can handle such shots, you will achieve amazing results. Sadly a lot of people, even so called experienced photographers, don't exploit this capability to the fullest extent.

The photo I have taken of the famous Manhattanhenge is a good example. I purposely grossly underexposed the shot because I knew from experience this was going to be the only way I could get a picture, even remotely, resembling of what I saw at the location.

The photo was taken with the lowly K-3 but it handled the task with aplomb. Today's K-1 would do an even better job although it is hard to imagine. I have printed this photograph on A2 metallic paper and the detail in stunning even at close up.

I cropped out a small sample area of the shot to illustrate what the original RAW looked like.

Cheers

I believe schraubstock, sums it up nicely. I do believe that the dslrs are capable of a whole lot more than we give them credit. A dslr with some knowledge of post processing is capable of a whole lot more than just a snap shot. It also comes down to understanding your raw converter and other post processing software to pull out the full detail of what your camera is capable of. The info is there, its just hiding behind all that dark space.
