Remounting a Sigma Lens for the K1

Having just invested in a K1, I thought it time to get my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art remounted, using the free service offered by Sigma. I dropped it in at CR Kennedy in Melbourne (coincidently both the Sigma and Pentax agents in Australia), and it was ready 3 or 4 days later.

The new mount seems to be the same size as the old, except bevelled on the edge. This is enough to prevent it from scratching the K1 body. It looks like a very professional job. Well done CRK! Given the ease of the process, there's no reason not to get the mount upgrade.

By the way, this lens performs flawlessly on the K1. I had consistently suffered 1-1.7 ev overexposure on the K3, but it's perfect on the K1.

Yes I just got back 2 of the 3 lenses I put in for mount fixing but will have to wait a few more days for the Sigma 70-200mm DG as there is a shortage of parts.

Since I'm looking forward at getting the K1 in a few months...should I send my 70-200 F/2.8 in for mount swapping?
I'm currenlty using it with a K30, is the new mount cusing any issues on that body?
Thanx

I'm impressed by how quickly Sigma has been able to manufacture suitable parts for this. Good stuff!

I also have the Sigma 35mm Art and I have tried to send it for repair through our local dealer in Romania. They have told me that Sigma temporarily put a stop to this program and they will restart it in August.

You may as well get that lens in for the mount correction before you get your K-1 to save any scratches to your new K-1 body.

Right, as long as I don't have any issues with the K30 I'm currently shooting with, whoch I don't think, isn't it?
I just got in touch with Sigma service in Italy.

Has anyone sent their K-1 in to have the scratch repaired?

I heard that's the case in Japan and some other countries. When I first asked CRK in Melbourne about doing the swap, they asked which lens. I said the 35mm Art and they said that's fine. So I got the impression they may not have the parts for all lenses at this stage. Perhaps the take up has been greater than Sigma originally anticipated.

Anyway, it was definitely worth doing from my point of view.

Wasn't there an additional problem with the 70-200 causing the K1 to freeze? Or am I confusing it with another lens?

Yes but it just needs a firmware update which they do at the same time.
