If the flex circuit was bad (crimped, cracked, etc.) and the CPU is soldered to the circuit it is probably a whole lot more cost effective to replace the circuit and CPU as one.

Seems like Precision's turn around time has gotten a lot better recently - or at least we're not seeing as many horror stories of long wait times.
