Trouble updating firmware

I cannot get the firmware to update. I have did everything I could exactly as it say to do and it will not update. Anyone else have this problem?

I've moved your post to its own thread. Be sure to check the following:

1. Did you download the correct firmware file? The K-1's latest update is v1.10
2. Is there a .BIN file in the root of the SD card (i.e. outside of the DCIM folder)? If not, be sure to extract the .zip file that you downloaded, and be sure to place the .BIN file in the correct location, outside of any folder.
3. Is the SD card containing the update placed in the SD1 slot? Updates cannot be performed from SD2.
4. Is your camera's battery fully charged? The camera won't initiate an update otherwise.

Can you describe what happens? Do you get any feedback on the computer or camera screens?

If the above ideas don't work, try reformatting your SD card in the camera (obviously copy everything off the card first). I once had an issue with the K-7 (I think) where the SD card was fine for everything else, but wouldn't update the firmware. The reformat fixed it.

Ive had same problem, so I gave up after half a dozen tries with different cards,very frustrating.

I'm not new to updating Pentax firmware.

Ive updated firmware on Qs(3) and K-01(2) and K50(3) with positive results but K1 refuses to co operate

K-1 firmware update for me was everyday normal, using the same old 2GB Sandisk card I always use for firmware updates.

Did you download the firmware from the Ricoh JP site, and follow the '8 step plan' update procedure outlined there?

Yes, followed everything a number of times...I concluded that the upgrade was minor so thought id just leave it until next version comes along.Then try again.

I had the same problem, well not really a problem, since the fault was mine. Under point #2 above: is there a "bin" file in the root of the SD card?
Yes my computer said there was, but the K1 did not see it. Turned out the file was not extracted yet.
