New K1

I just got my new K1 yesterday. Had to work all day so I haven't shot anything serious yet, but just the feel and features of the camera make me say "WOW"! I come from the LX to the K200D and now the K1, so this is quite a new experience to me. I had a little of a scare, though. I took some quick test shots just to see how the camera works and when I tried to check out the pics I got the message "Image cannot be viewed". The trouble shooting in the manual was not much help, but I finally discovered that you must fill both memory slots to view images. That camera will shoot with only one memory card but will not display images unless you fill both slots. Anyone else find that to be true?

I just tried using a single card in slot 1 and it played back fine. I have mine in sequential record mode and RAW+.

Try it again and see if it still fails for you since you have seen it play back.

Don't forget to freshly format your card(s) in the K-1, particularly if the card had a former life in another camera.

I had to in-camera format a new card in order to get it to work properly with firmware 1.0 (

I had only one card, in slot 1. I had no problems.

Don't forget the switch card button to select which slot is being viewed.

The little button above the mode button will switch between slot 1 & 2.

I tried it again and it worked. Not sure what I was doing wrong. I now have it set to record DNG on 1 and JPEG on 2.

...and you are bound to discover many more (scary?) things, but all will be good in the end.
