Now we can fire off test shots without wasting a few frames of film

Steve, I think you are right. I've just read that it drops down so often that I didn't trust my own senses when I observed otherwise. Thanks

I'll probably still continue to use MUP because I want to tell the camera when to take the image, not have it exactly 2 or 12 seconds after remote trigger.
I'll hazard a guess that the 12-second timer doesn't lock up the mirror, this is how previous models have worked - anyone with a k-1 want to verify?

I'm not sure about all models, but I think since at least k100d days mirror lock up with the 2-second timer has been standard, and actually the only way to get mirror lock up with the 'lower' models.

True 2-press MUP for the win though, I'm with you on that.

That being said, there is still an advantage to using the 2s delay when doing LV shooting from a tripod. The first is that doing so turns off the SR function. The second is that the shutter reset has potential to introduce vibration and adding the delay helps.
Thanks for this information. I've been shooting landscapes with my K-1 on a tripod using LV and SR off but didn't realize the advantage of using the 2s delay. I'll do that from now on. Doing all of that plus having ES activated seems to be doing everything possible to minimize vibration unless I'm still missing something. Because of my particular situation I shoot a lot with a 300 mm telephoto and want to keep vibration as low as possible.

It might be because you are using Electronic Shutter, try de activate it first.

Are you using AUTO exposure mode. A number of options are restricted when using that basic mode.

Thanks but....
I cannot locate a reference to "electronic shutter". The M.UP icon does offer a remote shutter release option but both the icon choices are blacked (grayed) out.
I am setting the exposure mode to M, (manual) but I cannot get the M.Up icon to accept selection..

See the option below on your K1. If Electronic shutter is enabled you can't (dont need to) use MLU feature.

I do not see that Electronic Shutter choice in mine, although I see the other items in that list. Was it added in a firmware update? - I have Version 1.00. I'm a bit reluctant to dive into firmware updates until others have reported no issues

Yes, it was added in one of the firmware updates. Some other nice features also beyond 1.00.

ES was added in update v1.30. Just update to v 1.43 and you will have it.
