K-1 tagged mirror

Someone tagged my mirror in my K-1
Have anyone seen something like that before?
It looks like it does not cause any issues.

How bizarre. Was that a brand new, major retailer supplied camera, Jack?

Yes Mike, it was purchased brand new from AU Pentax distributor with 2 years warranty.
Had camera for a while, yesterday I pulled out some of my old Vivitars and Adaptall lenses and had a play, then I noticed that strange thing on K-1's mirror, you can only see it at the certain angle with the right light.
It is very bizarre indeed, i had a number of cameras but never seen anything like that.
kind regards
jack

That's strange. It looks like it's hand-drawn rather than by machine... almost as if someone had marked the stock used to cut the mirrors.

I guess it's a judgement call on what to do... I'm picky about this sort of thing, so if it were me I think I'd be asking for the mirror to be replaced, but if it's not showing up in the viewfinder in any circumstances, you could accept it or hold off for a while in case any other warranty work is required. My real concern would be if you ever came to sell it on... how it might affect the value.

Looks like a thread to me too, especially because of the reflection. Try a gentle puff with a blower, see if it moves. If so, CAREFULLY see if you can pluck it our with something. I would recommend first trying a tiny 00 or similar size retouching brush, but avoid touching the mirror.

Flip that mirror up and look under it,I agree with D1NO.Use your finger nail to lift it up and go slowly ,because it looks like it is stuck between the two mirrors

The one worry/dread is, assuming that it is a thread, that it is caught tightly in the mirror's hinge. In that case it could be difficult to extract with something as gentle as a retouching brush. Might require needle-nosed pliers (KIDDING!! DON"T DO IT!!!)

that is why he had better get it sooner than later, not to mention it will bind up the mirror.Just got to wonder how it got there.

Camera is new from dealer stock. The answer is simple...unless it (the thread) is just sitting there, send it back for an exchange.

To me it looks like a fine wire. Perhaps part of the electrical system for the AF module or mirror assembly. Or a reflection of some wires up in the pentaprism. If it was in any optical path, you'd see it in the viewfinder or on your images.

I was very busy recently, did not have much time to deal with this.
Today I had a look again, Clearwipe wet Lens Cleaner did the trick, all was dissolved and gone!
