It's working now...maybe the contacts weren't true the first time? I had to make sure the aperture ring was in A, and auto focus and everything's working. Before though there was nothing. Thanks for your replies though, otherwise I would haven't retried and felt I only had an expensive lens from my K-3.

At one point I went through the DxO ratings of various lenses, the Tamron 90 was a star on every platform and both APS-c and FF. When I looked there was no rating for the DFA 100 so I have no idea how it stacks up, but the Tamron 90 is one of those lenses to build a system around.
