Is it counting up?

In any case, following the exposure you will definitely see a timer counting down if you've enabled slow shutter speed noise reduction. This will last roughly as long as the original exposure.

Hi Adam,
how will I know how much time has elapsed, and do not see it on the screen?

I asked the same question when I moved from Canon to Pentax. Unfortunately Pentax does not show the exposure time when using bulb mode (K3). Its a small but very useful feature. It is actually sad that Pentax does not include such a useful feature.

I carry a stop watch in our camera kit.

Carrying a stop watch or timer remote is not as convenient as what Canon does, specially in the dark, which is when bulb mode is mostly used. I hope someday Pentax incorporates it with a firmware update.

Correct, Pentax does not currently count in bulb mode. *If* it's ever added in firmware, here's how I want it done with 3 settings: 1) Off (for maximum battery life); 2) Count on rear LCD; 3) Count on top LCD.

Features4 | PENTAX K-70 | RICOH IMAGING

The K-70 has a bulb timer mode. From 10 seconds to 5 minutes in 10 second increments or from 5 to 20 minutes in one minute increments. If the feature uses memory registers that don't exist on earlier models it won't be available with firmware updates.

That's nice.

I use the timer/counter on my cell phone.

This should be possible on the K-1 since it does something similar when the astrotracer is active.

This is terrific news. Looking forward to this being on all future models.

If it can be used in conjunction with the built in intervalometer, all the better.
