The white balance is definitely warmer.

Noise seems slightly better controlled on the K-1.

@Ken Pimontel
How did you develop the images?

Seems like you used ACR.
Given that Adobe applies different processing depending on the camera brand/model, I'd say it would be more reliable to use dcraw or perhaps RAW Therapee for noise comparisons.

Glad to help. It only fell about 4 feet...onto carpet...but, it had the Bigma 50-500 mounted and pulled the lens mount out of the camera, I had a heck of a time getting the lens mount off the Bigma, it was stuck. Fortunately the Bigma didn't get any damage at all, just the K5IIs.

I suggest a concrete drive, and faking a heart attack....cheap lens mounted...that way you can get some sympathy which may help get you the K1. Personally, I cried like a little baby for 30 minutes and that's when Mrs Rupert handed me her credit card for the K1. Of course, I am a pro at this after 50 years with Mrs Rupert.
She blamed the accident on my being old and with "infirm mind". She might be right...I forgot to tell her the Bigma was not damaged and so she let me get a new Tamron 70-200 2.8 too! Gotta do some of that Big Brain Thinking, you know!

Regards!
Okay. I think this might be doable. Let me just run through it:
  • Concrete drive: CHECK
  • Faking heart attack: not needed - already very old & clumsy - so: CHECK
  • Cheap lens: CHECK
  • Cry like a baby (I'm good at this): CHECK
  • Sympathy from AggieMom: UH-OH... this could be difficult

Well, I'll carefully put together a plan and work on the correct timing for an event. Who knows? It might all come together.

Thanks for the tips.

Don

Developed in Lightroom, Color checker profile for each, same white balance, no ambient light.

Face it Don you are old and forgetful. Just say you misplaced the K-5II and need a new camera.

Thanks.

The fact that you used a color checker profile for each helps quite a bit, but LR (which has ACR under the hood) could still apply different levels of baseline noise reduction. A "0" in an LR setting means nothing; it pretty much never means "neutral".

K5 vs K5IIs vs K1 - DNG Profile Editor profiles

Here with profiles made in Adobes DNG Profile Editor.

FYI, the K1 sensor seems bluer and greener. Needs +50K and -4 magenta in stead of K5 -6 magenta

FWIW, I use LR 5.7.1 I do not believe it knows the K1.

The order of the images is K-5IIs, K-1 and K-5.

And the crops pushed 3 stops.

What are your thoughts on the fringing on the K1?

Thx for all the input guys!

I can, round the ColorChecker box details.

Presumably the order of the cropped shots is K-5iis, K-1 and K-5 ? In that case it is the K-5 AA filter doing what an AA filter is meant to do ...

Boy, that is the truth! But I think she put one of those electronic finder thingies in my camera bag. She already put them on my keys and my Nook.
