K1 pics vs Sony a6300

I have the same problem with Sigma f/1.4 on K1 which I didn't have on K3.
I haven't done any micro adjustment yet. I think Tamron worked better on my K3. I noticed even when I focus on the face, my pic are for instance sharper in hair area and not necessarily eyes
I'll post pic with all 3 lenses soon.

Can't really tell whether there is anything in focus on the first K-1 pic. Could be subject or camera movement.

Check that you have the Noise Reduction and AA Filter Simulator turned off on the K-1. If they are on they will cause your images to look soft.

The two K-1 pics, #1 and #3, shows different results. #3 is very sharp. #1 is soft. Based on #3 I think the camera and lens are good.

Why is #1 so soft? It could be user error due to camera movement or snapping the picture before focusing finished. Less likely, the lens could have a problem that causes inconsistent sharpness at different focal lengths.

I have the K-1 and the Sony A7II. The Sony AF has face recognition and it lock onto the eyes. For moving subjects like children you will find that the Sony (and all current mirrorless) really nail the eye and give you pin sharp results. Focus accuracy is always going to be better with mirrorless. Mirrorless doesn't have front or back focus issues. The A6300 AF is light years ahead of what Pentax has in the K-1.

Show us how bad that K-1 really is, and how good that Sony really is.

Norm - I can't comment on the K-1 as I have no experience of it (except for a quick test at a photography expo)... however, I can compare my Sony A99 Hasselblad HV to my K-3 and K-3II. Those Pentax cameras are still my favourites, and if I had to give up any of my gear, the last piece I'd let go is the K-3 - it's my favourite for so many reasons. But I will say that the Sony AF, using a combination of phase and contrast detection, is incredibly good - just mind-boggling - as is the tracking. It really is in a different league to the K-3 / K-3II, and so I have to believe it's way ahead of the K-1 as well. But, as I said in an earlier post in this thread, Pentax wins in other areas

Yes, and the A99 AF is not nearly as fast as the A6300. The A6300 has the best AF of any mirrorless camera I know if and is much better than any DSLR under $4,000. The new A99II AF is expected to merge the 399 AF points of the A7RII with a much faster AF system. Combining PDAF and CDAF gives you truly amazing AF for people who need critical focus. IF Sony would only get the QC and improve a few other issues they will have a great system. I love several of the Sony CZ lenses. I almost went with a Sony A900 many years ago to replace my Canon 5D.

Can I say, though, that looking at your EXIF data your shutter speeds were too low for a subject that can move?

My portrait above is soft because it's at 1/40s ... straight out user error on my part.

Override your camera if you have to, because it doesn't know if it's on a tripod or is taking a picture of a dog or a tree.
