I´m having trouble with high noise levels at relatively low ISO on the k1 as well. It is exactly the same as my k-S2 but i thought it would far out-perform the K-S2. Is it possible ive got a bad copy of the camera (it is the same with various lenses) Here is a photo taken @ ISO3200.
Not sure I see much noise, but the whole picture's just not sharp, Matty, as if the camera was moving.

That shutter speed's way too low either for handheld or for people as subjects. Let's see your shots at ISO 3200, 1/200s.

Here's a picture I took just last weekend, handheld, 1/250s, ISO1600 on the K-1, no reason you can't do the same if you get your settings and technique right:

Try 1/250 or electronic shutter on tripod. My 28-105 shows shutter shock at 1/200

As to noise - my files are very clean

Yeah, I wouldn't even take a flash photograph of people on a tripod at 1/25s unless it was in a totally dark studio, they're not statues.

The more i am testing the more i´m thinking it is my technique at fault. I've been in hospital for the last 3 months so i'm really not getting much variety of subjects to shoot but the photos above are fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting out and do some real testing. Thank you for the advice

If you are photographing a static shot, as in the flowers stem, why are you using ISO 3200? Surely a tripod and longer exposure would be better?
