No lens with a 77mm filter diameter qualifies as "small" in my book.

I do agree that some (relatively) slow constant-aperture zooms would be nice, though. Almost as nice as some small primes.

Still, I think I'll stay happily in the world of aps-c - which already has those small primes

Pentax makes a 16-45 F4 zoom that is half the weight of the Nikon 16-35 F4. Sounds like all you want is a bigger zoom so you can use filters you already have.

The DA 16-45 F4 is not full frame

This thread is posted in the K-1 forum.

But why 77mm? I would rather have a rear filter slot or even filter internal filter wheel for a couple of ND filters and a clear one.

That would be nice, but I doubt they will implement something like that, I said 77mm because there are similar designs around from other companies, so it is possible

It can't be small.
I'll be satisfied with update of FA 20-35mm f/4.
Very light, very small and very good IQ.
Perfect compromise.
For wider angles 14-16mm even primes are not small enough.

I meant small compared with monsters like the 15-30mm 2.8,
