Firmware 1.30 New functions

On Facebook, Ricoh Imaging

"NEW! Firmware version 1.30 for PENTAX K-1 digital SLR camera.
New functions and increased number of settings added.
You can download the free firmware at the official website."

Can't find it for download yet but it sounds interesting.

Be interesting to see what features are added. If I had to take a guess, I'd say they've added / adjusted some of the video features. Maybe even 4K...

Yep, they have also improved the AF.C algorithm for moving cyclists. ;-)

I doubt we'll see 4K video capabilities. As I recall, the sensor in the K1 is the same that was in the a7R original release and there were technical reasons why it was not appropriate for 4K video. The sensor has some issues, namely the white dot noise problem with long exposures when dark frame NR is not engaged.

I hope for focus calibration similar as on new Nikons; where you use live-view to calibrate all focus system. Night vision mode as on k70. That's the only to things it needs I think.

I’m being optimistic and guess there will be a pet recognition function in live view and a manga filter function that turns said pet into a manga figure, or something equally useful.

And Pentaxians will definitely call this firmware the special DPReview upgrade!

I think they have removed the moving cyclists algorithm to be consistent with the dpreview test...

I screenshotted the post, too bad it's been deleted. But hopefully not too long to wait.

+1 for a AF automatic calibration routine! Would be handy.

Will we see some 'sensor calibration' option (similar to the pixel mapping functionality?

More realistically, I expect to see 'The AF tracking for moving subjects in AF-C mode has been improved' in the release notes. And then lots of people discussing whether it seems to be an improvement or not.

1.30 sounds like something to look forward to, anyway!
