I had Sigma 35/1,4ART on Nikon D750. Sigma needed correction to FF/BF at different distances in service (did not help me USB dock)...Sigma was tack sharp from f1,4, but
...Sigma is enough optically corrected and the rendering was not interesting for me.

for K-1 a bought FA31Limited (1.130euro) and a love it. FA31 create a better 3D effect if you choose the right distance from the object and can be used for a landscape (It is a bit wider).
It is smaller and better when shooting into the sun. Sharpness is excellent when it is enough contrast scenes, f1,8 is no problem.

I have FA31 (1130euro new), FA43 (550euro used, but like a new), FA77 (850euro new), and I like them, because they have different focal lengths (as traditional 35mm, 50mm, 85mm) for more interesting photos

For curiosity, how wide is that 31mm actually when focused @ infinity? My Leitaxed 28/2 Zeiss is giving me headache at times when working in live view.

Personally I prefer the FA31 for its rendering.
+1

How much the renderings differ visibly depends on the image (subject distance, background distance, f-stop). Sometimes the difference can be subtle, sometimes not so subtle. Even when it is subtle, I think it can make a big difference on a subconscious level. Note that I only own the FA 31/1.8 and only made comparisons to the Sigma 35/1.4 by using images posted by others.

The FA 31/1.8's rendering is just exquisite. It has been voted the second best K-mount lens by users of this forum a while ago (personally, I think it should have received first place) and also received ultimate praise from the press.

It furthermore is a jewel of a lens that is just lovely to behold and handle and takes up relatively little space in the bag.

I have a lot of Sigma lenses and hold them in high regard, but if you eschew the FA 31/1.8 in favour of the Sigma 35/1.4, you might want to ask yourself whether you are using the correct mount. Wouldn't a camera that Sigma still produces lenses for be a better choice then? This is not meant to be a snide remark. Unless you absolutely love the ergonomics of Pentax cameras (who doesn't?) you may want to consider a different camera system, if what many consider to be a pinnacle of lens design (the FA 31/1.8) does not make it into your bag.

P.S.: Note that the FA 31/1.8 has a fixed hood. That may not suit you.

Seems a bit extreme, but I guess I agree.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience shooting with the 21mm Limited APS-C lens on the K1? It would have a 31mm equivalent.

I don't understand why you limit yourself to the German market when you have the whole of the EU to choose from. Tax, duty, warranty, consumer rights, are all as one...that's the point of the common market.
I'm a bit old fashioned, I think. By example I never bought via Ebay. Used things I like to hold in my hands before I buy. Concerning Tax (VAT) you're simply wrong - details here. I'm not sure about the other points. Guidelines are defined for all european members and every member has some room to implement it. But that's all off topic.

Pentax K-1 with Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art

I bought a used Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art back in March. I use it for weddings. I considered the Pentax 31mm but it was too expensive. I do own the Pentax 77mm F1.8 limited- I also purchased this used from a vendor in Japan. The Sigma is my goto lens for wedding groups in church and for most bride & groom formal shots. It is an excellent lens, very quiet, which along with the K-1's quiet shutter helps me be discreet during wedding ceremonies. My clients are very happy with the photos using this lens.

Will we be getting HD versions of the FA 31mm any time soon ? I know this has been discussed a while back, but any new thoughts ? Same for the 43 and 77 too ...

I know they are different lens, but does anyone know how the DFA 24-70 renders at 31mm compared with the limited. Yes I know it hasn't got pixie dust, but is it sooooo different at f5.6 upwards?

No specifics have ever been given, Barry.

The lens roadmap you've seen for more than a year now was confirmed as current at Photokina.

B and H had it for $718 back in Feb right before the K1 announcement. I was seriously thinking of getting it but decided against it.
