I remember the famous firmware for K10D - 1.10
Personally, I'm most fond of K-5 firmware update v1.01, where the K-5's continuous shooting buffer for RAWs went from 8 frames to 20 frames. All via software.

The K-5 was rushed on the market.

I will be pleased to get the bulb timer. I just wish they would release a new update for the 645z with the same feature.

I hope it counts up or down or something in the top LCD during bulb-mode. Especially if you are not in the new timer mode but shooting manual bulb.

That would indeed be nice. BTW, on the K-70, the bulb timer works by hitting the green button while in Bulb mode. This causes the shot duration field on the back display to switch from displaying "Bulb" to displaying "10s" - the shortest duration for use of the timer. You can then go up to 5m in 10s increments, and then up to 20m in one minute increments. Hit the shutter, and the camera automatically times the exposure and closes the shutter. For all intents and purposes, I think it's like an M mode with a different set of possible exposure durations (10s to 20m instead of 1/6000 to 30s). (Note: I don't have a K-70, but played with one this past weekend at a local photo salon.)

Well, it already counts down LENR time in the top LCD when bulb exposure is finished. This is nice. Fuji made this work the other way around, it counts up during the bulb exposure on the back LCD. Optimally both should be available.

Though, counting down LENR time only works up to 999 seconds.

The K-1 is probably selling so well that all this is worth the effort
A confidence gathered at the Salon de la Photo in Paris from a Ricoh Imaging Europe executive: after the initial rush at launch the sales of K-1 went down over the summer but they are favourably oriented since mid-September.

"went down over the summer" - our Pentax distributor couldn't get K-1s to sell, even to cover the initial orders, over the entire summer. Only recently they were able to get enough to keep a few in stock.

Bulb timer function
The bulb timer function comes in handy when photographing celestial bodies or fireworks. The PENTAX K-1 allows the photographer to expend an exposure time up to 20 minutes in Bulb mode.
Whelp, this 100% changes everything about how I do astrophotography timelapses with astrotracer on. For good. For the better... way way way way better.

These last two firmware updates have been other-worldly, delivering new features on an already loaded camera.

Im not sure if this is possible in firmware , but is it possible for image to display on LCD display during a long exposure at different intervals so viewer can examine the histogram ? It would be a very neat feature to have.

Nice additions. Would have loved to have a counter, showing elapsed time. Also possibly to toggle between Bulb, new time function AND Astrotracer with green button so that one could have GPS location on new time function images...

EDIT: Turn off Astrotracer in info menu gives me GPS in new bulb timer mode. My bad...

Astrotracer still has a 5 min limit... Or how do you mean?

Yep. There's no way the sensor could move enough to track stars for 20 minutes. That would take *much* more than a firmware tweak.
