Skin Type setting ????

Ok so offense to any particular people. I guess if you were shooting portraits this could be handy, but how do you think the setting works and what is the difference between type 1 and 2?

How do you think that setting works?

I think that Type 1 is just an auto skin tone correction and Type 2 adds smoothing or softening (for wrinkles, etc.)

Yep, here's the official word:

PENTAX K-1 | FAQ | Support | RICOH IMAGING

QuoteQuote:
Q. What is the [Skin Tone Correction] function?

A. The Skin Tone correction function restores a tender texture and a healthy tone of the subject’s skin, while keeping the high-resolution rendition in its hair and clothing and in the background.
*The Skin Tone Correction function can be activated and effective when the face is detected in the captured image regardless which AF mode or Exposure mode is selected.
* The Skin Tone Correction function can be selected at RAW development in K-1.

At the Capture menu 3, you can select from TYPE1, TYPE2 or OFF.
-TYPE1: Correct color and brightness of skin.
-TYPE2: Addition to TYPE1, make smoother skin.

Basically, it fixes the JPEG engine's tendency to over saturate certain color channels. Type 2 further applies a blur filter.

It's really great for JPEG shooters, IMO.
