Just gotta say

I just gotta say that every time I use my K1 with the FA 35 F2.0 on it indoors, I am astounded at the results. Even on auto and in a fairly dim room, the resulting photos look for all the world like they were taken with plenty of light. I can honestly say that my K200 or my K10 is simply not capable of producing the same look even using the exact same lens, and I thought that they did a pretty darned good job of making the most of light, until I got the K1. Maybe the K3's are capable of the same results, I don't know, but I do know that the K1 is just a really awesome camera, even in the hands of non professional occasional type user.

Nice to hear. I am not quite in the market for the K1 yet but delighted to read your positive comments. How about a few photos??

I can confuse some of my K3 shots with K1 shots, but if you are coming from a 10mp CCD, the K1 difference would be unmistakable.

The look of the K10d is also different to my eyes from any CMOS successor. There are certain lenses I preferred on the K10d over subsequent bodies if the light was sufficient.

Thanks for the heads up. Will have to use mine a bit more.

I had a somewhat similar feeling with the K3 actually. Its not likely as significant, but it is there. I often wouldn't enjoy any of my indoor low light shots (no flash) with the K3. I'm not skilled at noise reduction in post mind you.

Well, perhaps that is it, going from the k200 to the k1 is such a leap that I am more amazed than I would be if I had bought a k3 first. Frankly, I held off a while on the k1 because of it not having a pop up flash, but in retrospect, it simply is not necessary!

Ok, quick and dirty. Darkest is K10, lightest is K1, other is K200. Morning, blinds closed, no flash or room lights. Auto everything. Also shows the difference from crop sensors K10 and 200 to FF K1. A little shaky, but shows the light difference. The K1 is just capable of a decent photo using a higher ISO.

I had a K3 for 2 years and am amazed at the K1. The focus "just works" in nearly all situations, the low ISO perf is amazing - this pic was done in ISO 20000 (with luminance NR in Lightroom)

As shot:

The 24-70 f2.8 is an amazing lens too.

The only thing I don't like is the size and weight - 1.8kg. The K3 with 16-85 was 1.4kg and the difference is noticeable.
